• The ollie (jumping with the skateboard) was invented by Alan "Ollie" Gelfand in 1978, but became the foundation of all street skating in the 80s
• Thrasher Magazine launched in 1981 and became the bible of skate culture
• The legendary skateboard company Powell Peralta dominated the 80s with their Bones Brigade team
• Tony Hawk turned pro at age 14 in 1982 - totally tubular!
